Job description

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our inpatient team on a permanent basis.

This post is suitable for an SLT who has experience working with adults in an acute setting and who would like to develop their skills further in this area. Our values; Everyone Matters, Working Together, Making a Difference, represent our aspiration for the type of hospital we want to be and you can join our dedicated and talented staff to make this happen.

The Speech and Language Therapy team is forward-thinking with new and ongoing projects, monthly CPD (continuing professional development) sessions, and support for progression of competencies.

In this role you will have a focus on early assessment areas including the Emergency Department, Medical Assessment Unit and Older Person's Assessment Unit. You will also be supported to provide input to other specialty areas.

You will be providing specialist Speech and Language Therapy input for a caseload of adult inpatients with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties. This includes assessment and differential diagnosis, delivering intervention and rehabilitation, reviewing outcomes, and ensuring appropriate onward referral to community services.

We work closely within the multi-disciplinary team and have well-established links with Therapy, Nursing and Medical colleagues. We are looking for an SLT with excellent communication skills and an empathetic approach.
