The role is suitable for a specialist/ senior midwife who is passionate about providing care for this previously under-represented area. The post holder would provide regional level midwifery leadership in the focus of equity of access to perinatal genomic services across the North East & Yorkshire region.

To provide education and training to current Midwives interested in genomics.
The North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service Alliance was formally established in December 2020 and includes NHS providers and commissioners within Leeds, Sheffield & Newcastle.
The Alliance is led by a partnership of the three providers that have direct responsibility for the delivery of Genomic services and the Alliance’s annual business plan:
- Newcastle University Hospital Foundation Trust
- Sheffield Childrens Hospital
- Leeds Teaching Hospitals
- Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 12 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
