Job description
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our specialist Hand Therapy Team. The successful candidate will have experience in delivering a high standard of assessment and evaluation of patients referred to hand therapy following elective/ traumatic hand surgery.
They will be able to select appropriate treatment techniques from a wide range of specialist skills available and past experience. These can include the fabrication of a range of specialist static/ dynamic splints using sound clinical reasoning and the evidence base, patient education and advice, exercise prescription, wound, scar and oedema management.
Provide clinical assessment and intervention to out patients attending the OT department and support colleagues working with in patients who may have splinting needs.
To manage a caseload of clients providing specialist OT interventions for patients with complex needs including assessment, intervention, risk management and referral to other services as required.
The post holder will also be required to provide expert advice and joint working for cases held by other members of the team.
Make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about intervention options.
Offer highly specialist assessment of patients.
Develop specialist interventions that are evidence based.
To work with occupational therapists (and other members of the multidisciplinary team) providing hand and upper limb services on other sites in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board to develop the service across the whole health board.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
