Job description
To support a young man with Down's Syndrome/ADHD to attend activities and support transition into adult life. He has a great sense of humour and bags of enthusiasm. He needs support to develop his reading, arithmetic and life skills, also to attend activities including dancing, tennis, swimming, park trips and cinema etc. You will be working with another support worker to attend activities, however there may be occasions where you support him on a 1:1 basis. You will be required to cover annual leave where necessary. The role is across two family homes in Chesterfield and Dronfield. Most activities are local but occasional long distances may be required for his modelling assignments. To assist with prompting of personal care when necessary as his needs can vary from day to day. Experience is desirable and specific training can be provided as required. You must be able to build a good relationship and have an interest of working with people with special needs. You may be required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate. The position may suit individuals wishing to start a career in special needs, wanting to gain experience in the field of therapeutic interventions to positively support behaviours. A full driving licence and car with business insurance is essential. Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS check, (costs will be covered).

As the young man is in the clinically vulnerable category, all family members and support workers are vaccinated and it's preferred that applicants are fully vaccinated.
