A lovely role in Chievely, RG20 for our 9-year-old girl who lives with her close-knit family and loves arts and crafts and going swimming. V has mild cerebral palsy, but she doesn’t let her condition hold her back. She is looking for a Support Worker for before and after school during term time and some longer days in the school holidays. - V acquired a brain injury at birth and has mild cerebral palsy. She is looking for a Support Worker with a positive outlook on life. She is part of a very close-knit family comprising mum, dad, twin sister and an older sister.
- The role will involve supporting V with her personal care, washing and dressing, as well as assisting her with homework, meal preparation, facilitating hobbies/clubs, play and any rehabilitation support as directed by the MDT. V is mobile but uses a powered chair for extended or uphill walks.
- Cooking for V is part of the role. She has an oral diet and is supported by a nutritionist. V has sensory needs and assistance is required with managing/regulating her emotions, if you have experience in this area that would be a bonus.
- Full training in all aspects of our client’s support will be given and you will be supported by her Case Manager.
About You:
- You will provide a supportive, engaging and child-centred approach to our client by following her Care plan and helping her achieve her educational, developmental and rehabilitation goals, whilst helping her gain confidence along the way.
- You will have at least one year’s experience and knowledge in caring for children with cerebral palsy/additional needs, specific training relating to our client will be provided. You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.
- You will enjoy taking V out on activities so would need to be a driver who holds a full UK driving license who is able to drive our client’s automatic wheelchair adapted vehicle and is over 21 (for insurance purposes). Our client’s home is also not easily accessible for public transport.
Pay:
- £15 per hour Weekdays
- £16 per hour Weekends & Bank Holidays
There is a 6-month probationary period.

- Term Time – Monday to Friday 07:00 to 09:00 (2 hours) and 14:45 to 20:45 (6 hours)
- School holidays - 4 days of 10 hours each, flexibility on days and start time
