Job description

Alba Orbital is a fast-growing start-up company based in Glasgow which specialises in building and sending the smallest (PocketQube) satellites in the world to space.

We’re looking for a technician to help assemble our Satellite linked Ground stations, to help support our commissioning of a new manufacturing / test space, and to perform general tasks in support of our satellite manufacturing effort - this is a varied role.

Responsibilities:

  • General work in support of all aspects of Satellite and radio Ground station manufacturing
  • Involves use of power tools, regular hand tools, sensitive radio test equipment, parts/tools organisation, administration, cleaning, tidying
  • Involves electrical work and soldering
  • General work in support of commissioning of new manufacturing/test space.
  • Work can involve helping with space usage decisions, implementation of storage solutions, input into tool/furnishing selections, administration, cleaning, tidying, fetching
  • General work in support of our satellite manufacturing effort. Work can involve lending support to small mechanical/electronic builds, procurement administration, logging of stock/stock management and selection of tools and equipment
  • Any miscellaneous duties as requested

REQUIRED APPROACH:

Flexible approach to getting stuck in and helping out is absolutely essential. Would suit someone who likes variety in their work.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

We’re looking for someone with a can-do attitude who can motivate themselves at the same time as fitting in well with a positive goal-oriented team.

  • HNC/HND qualified in Engineering Technology or similar technical degree
  • Familiarity with common electrical and mechanical build tools, and computer systems
  • Interest in all aspects of Satellites, Ground station, space and radio communications
  • Clear verbal communications
