A career in our Retirement and Pensions practice, within People and Organisation Consulting services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients reset their talent strategies and deliver extraordinary business results through their people. We focus on evaluating and managing their unique challenges so our clients can maximise their return on the overall investment in human capital. You’ll gain a tremendous depth of expertise in all aspects of human capital, including creating sustainable value through people culture and change, designing compensation and retirement strategies, and improving human capital operations. Our actuarial team helps our clients develop and implement retirement and pension services suited to their organisational strategy and objectives. You’ll be assisting the team with retirement and pension strategy, plan design transformation, merger and acquisition integration, implementation and financial reporting.

The role

The key responsibility of the role is to work with Managers and more senior people in the team to lead the delivery of client projects. Your main focus will be on actuarial services covering areas such as scheme funding, liability management and financial reporting, with an opportunity to get involved in investment strategy, member outcomes and endgame strategy. You will also contribute to coaching for junior members of our own team and will also be expected to develop a network of contacts to support the team’s business development objectives. You will use your pensions knowledge within a wider commercial context, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including other professionals such as Covenant Advisory, Legal and Reward and Employment specialists.

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Proactively managing a portfolio of clients and generally working to Managers and above.

  • Establishing effective working relationships with appropriate levels of client staff.

  • Taking a proactive role in the financial management of the client.

  • Contributing to the development of personal and team knowledge.

  • Building your own network of contacts through regular attendance at internal and external meetings.

  • Staying up-to-date with changes in law and in the firm's products and services.

  • Staying up-to-date with local and national business and economic issues that might potentially impact on clients and /or their industry.

  • Some travel and occasional overnight stays will be expected.


Essential skills and experience

Alongside a strong academic background, you will be working towards an actuarial (IFoA) qualification.

  • Relevant experience (ideally 2-5 years), gained in an actuarial role

  • Excellent team, organisational and communication skills

  • Plenty of self-motivation

  • The ability to work to tight deadlines effectively.

  • Mobile

  • Up-to-date UK pensions experience
