About the team
You will be working as technical lead in support of the sales team to find solutions to customer challenges. Whilst listening to the customer needs, you will help to find solutions that integrate with existing customer equipment or on occasion design entirely new systems from scratch. This team is dynamic, proactive and energetic. You will be working in a fast paced environment where you can really get stuck into your work with colleagues from all over Europe. The team is based across Belfast, Bristol or Templecombe.
Our Opportunity

Due to significant growth in this market we are recruiting for a Solution Architect with knowledge of weapon system technologies, who can lead the full design life cycle, designing and developing innovative technical solutions that meet our customers and business needs. The role covers all aspects of the solution and product lifecycle, from requirements capture and analysis through solution definition, concept studies, modelling and simulation, design and development. It will include both internal, internal international and client facing interactions on a regular basis.
Key responsibilities:
As part of the IAS (Integrated Airspace-protection Systems) Solutions team, the role will require both significant customer and internal organisation interaction, leading on a variety of technical solution definitions. Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the architecting and development of our Air Defence solutions
- Work within teams defining architectures, including concept of operation, functional partitioning, end-to-end performance modelling, and interfaces between sub-systems
- Translating complex customer needs into realisable, competitive solutions
- Maintain an awareness of the latest developments in Weapon Systems and Digital Technology (e.g. Autonomy, Cyber, Communications, Big Data and AI) and identify how they can be exploited in our products and solutions
- Build long term relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers
- Proposal generation and cost estimating
- Provide technical governance of the engineering activities during the development and delivery phases
About You
You will have experience working within Defence ideally in the Weapons Systems or Air Defence domains as well as experience of working as technical support to sales/business development teams or as a technical sales engineer/representative. Additionally, you will have a track record of successfully defining and delivering customer solutions, being able to balance solution and competitiveness in a growing marketplace.
