Job description
We are looking for a software tester to join our test team to ensure that our platform gives users a fault-free experience and safeguards the data we hold. As well as our main Tapestry website, we maintain both an iOS and Android app, and every new piece of functionality needs to be thoroughly tested.
Tapestry is a complex and interesting product that builds a story of a child’s learning and development using photos, videos, and diary entries. It enables communication between staff and parents and facilitates the recording of a child’s daily care, experiences, and progress. Tapestry is valued by families and educators in the UK and around the world.
We are a small, but growing, happy team of people who believe in supporting educators to provide the best learning experiences for children. We encourage a positive approach to work-life balance and we believe in mutual trust and respect within our workplace. This provides the foundation for a positive relationship with our customers, offering prompt and personal support.
We are looking for a candidate who can apply their testing experience across our web-based platform and Android and iOS apps to ensure everything we deliver is fit for purpose and high quality. Our style of testing is very much user-focused, so as well as looking for bugs, we expect our testers to consider whether a feature looks and feels right for our customers.
Currently all our testing in the test team is completed manually but we are open to introducing new practices, e.g. automated testing, in the future.
The ideal candidate would:
- Have strong written communication skills – ability to write clear, precise bug reports
- Have strong verbal communication skills – be able to effectively communicate ideas and suggestions to the testing manager and other members of the development team
- Be confident and have experience with manual testing
- Be self-motivated
- Have the ability to think creatively to come up with the various edge cases that might apply to a given scenario
- Be a team player
- Undertake a methodical approach to ensure no gaps in test coverage
- Be flexible – able to work on multiple projects and adapt to new methodologies
Benefits:
- Join an excellent team full of friendly, supportive people
- Work in a beautiful, newly renovated, listed building in the centre of Lewes
- We offer flexible working options to suit each individual’s needs but are keen for applicants to be located in easy commuting distance of our offices so that they are able to spend at least some of their time working in the same space as their colleagues
- 31 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Relaxed working environment with dogs in the office
- Competitive salary
If you think this sounds like the right fit for you, and are keen to be part of a market-leading team that makes a real difference to the lives of teachers, children and parents, then we’d like to hear from you.
No agencies please.
