About the Role

We have exciting opportunities to join the Lockheed Martin team in Havant, Hampshire as a Software Requirements engineer. This role is all about describing the behaviour of a software solution and implementing the high level software design following the architectural constraints.

You will work mainly within the engineering team on Airborne Mission Systems, with a variety of programmes in this space. Lockheed Martin UK has been involved in this space for around 30 years. In addition, you will have opportunities to work both on our existing portfolio of programmes and future capabilities, which we want you to help shape.

You will primarily be home based with travel to the Havant office to support lab work and SW test and development.

You will experience a wide range of engineering activities including:
  • Requirements Derivation
  • Creation of Software Requirement Specifications
  • Taking system engineering inputs and flowing through to the SW team.
  • Bespoke Aerospace Software interfaces and systems
  • Modelling and Systems design
  • Translate business requirements into appropriate technical specifications
  • Manage your time effectively to develop effective solutions to cost and quality targets
  • Provide technical input to programme management and commercial staff and support where required in the use of LM and industry tools
  • Any additional Programme related tasks assigned that are within area of expertise, competence and skill set.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer

  • Strong understanding of UML modelling
  • Exposure to SysML
  • Solid understanding of Systems Engineering tools processes and practices.
  • Understanding of requirements definition and interface documentation required to support the development and acceptance of solutions, including requirements decomposition.
  • Understanding Test and Qualification procedures and practices, especially with regard to requirement sell off
  • An understanding of software design patterns (such as the observer pattern), and the ablility to apply architecture design patterns.
  • An understanding of UML Operations, Classes and Type Definitions, and being able to implement this within a Software UML Model.
  • Exposure to C or similar.
  • Ability to articulate Software behaviour in terms of use cases and requirements, and ensuring adherance to any architectural constraints.
  • The ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure that assigned workload is delivered when required.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on sometimes complex issues, topics and engineering principles and practices.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated industry
  • Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects
  • Experience of the Airborne Systems with experience of Merlin Mk2 platform
  • Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions
  • Proven ability to produce cost effective and technically compliant solutions
  • Practical experience of Model Based Systems Engineering (SysML, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect)
