You’ll bring your technical expertise and ideas to create and maintain bespoke software products to help our customers protect National Security at home and overseas.

Joining a team of developers, your work will be essential to helping to protect the UK and its people. You may not know all the details yet, but you soon will.

From designing systems and understanding your users, to configuring and managing virtual or physical hardware. Whether your preference is in the secure communications team, or the Android security team, your work will deliver impact here unlike anywhere else.


Technical Skills

Our role is based on the DDaT Infrastructure Engineer, that means we need you to already be able to:

  • Design, configure, code (where necessary) infrastructure components and systems.
  • Deploy physical or virtual infrastructure without supervision.
  • Be familiar with the fundamental components of infrastructure in one eco-system, e.g., Windows servers and roles, Linux equivalents or cloud services that fulfil the same responsibilities.

The following are desirable and would strengthen your application:

  • Experience of Continuous Integration and Delivery pipeline technologies
  • Experience of automation and infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, PowerShell etc.
  • Qualifications or experience of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Python etc. which may include Cloud certifications, Cisco qualifications, a Degree or in-role experience.

Putting your skills to use

You’ll get involved in the full process using your skills and experience to create a wide range of components whilst working with a variety of customers and design engineers. You can be creative, working in your own way towards delivery.

Using your diverse range of skills, you will:
1. Design, develop and document infrastructure systems to the highest standards
2. Verify designs by creating and implementing functional tests and integration tests
3. Support products and investigate reported issues
4. Contribute to project planning and meetings
5. Support junior members of the team to develop their skills
6. Take technical ownership of modules through their lifetime
