Founded in 2008, Rocket Lawyer is the largest and most widely used online legal service platform in the world. With offices in North America and Europe, Rocket Lawyer has helped over 25 million people create over 50 million legal documents, and get their legal questions answered.
We are in a unique position to enhance and expand the Rocket Lawyer platform to a scale never seen before in the company’s history, to capture audiences worldwide. We are expanding our team to take on this challenge!
About the Role
You will learn how an effective cross-functional engineering team operates, participating in Agile scrum ceremonies and experiencing the full software development lifecycle. This could be participating in technical design discussions, doing code review or triggering builds on our continuous deployment pipelines. We are hiring two summer interns, one specializing in mobile and one specializing in backend.
A day in the life:
- The projects you will work on will be determined by our roadmap and be directly impactful to the team’s objectives. You will develop code that will eventually be in production
- Participate in agile dev meetings (5-10% of your time)
- Design sessions, team collaboration, code reviews (~5-10% of your time)
- Software development (80-90% of your time)
- Participate in other RL or engineering meetings (<5% of your time)
Learning Objectives:
- Micro frontend & micro services architectures
- Cloud deployments
- Mobile tech stack of Ionic 2-3, Angular 2-4, UI with Angular, CSS3, HTML 5, Typescript and Javascript
- Back end tech stack of Java 11+, Springboot, Spring Webflux, Docker, Kubernetes, Skaffold, Helm and more
Requirements:
- Familiarity with one or more languages listed above on either the mobile or backend side
- Passionate about technology & programming
- Good knowledge of Java and keen to work with the technologies in our tech stack
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in computer science/ engineering or a related field
