Why this job matters
We are seeking a Software Engineer based in Birmingham to join our team and support BT's Operational Support System (OSS) networks. You will be responsible for managing IT applications including Saleforce Field Service (FSL) that are currently being used by our field engineers for logging timing and sign-in processes.

What you’ll be doing
- Using your own designs and those of other developers you will be accountable for delivering small to large sized projects throughout the whole development life cycle.
- You will be comfortable working independently as well as with others and under the guidance of a more senior developer where appropriate.
- Investigation and resolution of small issues/bugs in the application code.
- Design and implementation of projects/changes under the guidance of a more senior developer.
- The scoping and estimation of simple customer change requests, seeing them through to implementation under the guidance of a more senior developer.
- Furthering your understanding of our products and of software engineering more widely through the use of learning tools and internal knowledge shares.
- Sharing your knowledge with the development team and wider teams where appropriate.
- Supporting and mentoring other developers in the areas that are in your understanding.
- Seeking support from other team members in a timely fashion where appropriate.
- Engaging in process improvement, using continuous improvement methodologies.
What you'll bring
- Experience in Salesforce FSL concepts and has experience & knowledge of multichannel architecture, data modeling, data exchange and integrations
- Understand FSL Scheduling and optimization configuration, out-of-box capabilities and configuration of scheduling policies, work rules & Service Objectives
- Understand Field Service Mobile app capabilities, including offline architecture, capabilities and how to complement it with other supporting architecture including Salesforce Mobile app and third-party mobile application
- Understand Salesforce Field Service Lightening(FSL) architecture, Work Order and Service Appointment life cycle, bulk scheduling, dispatch,schedule. Preventive maintenance and configuration of Dispatcher Gantt
- Understand API capabilities to integrate in and out of Salesforce and SFS API capabilities
- Certified Salesforce professional
- Expert in Sales Force (FSL – Field Service Lightening) and good domain knowledge of Field/workforce management
Desirable but not vital
- Designing, implementing and deploying Salesforce FSL solutions to a wide variety of clients.
- Knowledge of the Salesforce FSL capabilities (both functional and technical) and integration capabilities.
- Full lifecycle implementation experiences in the platform. Good to have experience in leading enterprise level Workforce migration.
