Job description

What you'll be doing:

You will work as part of a dynamic and focused team, building the intelligent automation capability in DLG. You will own the development and test of automations/products across a range of technologies, take the lead and influence business and technical stakeholders to improve our solutions and processes. Also, ensure that the team always operates within robust governance by putting controls in place and following the technology services policies.

  • Design and develop software solutions

  • Work across multiple software engineering platforms, frameworks and tools to create innovative solutions.

  • Apply Agile software delivery practices, such as test-driven development, continuous integration/delivery, pair programming

  • Influence stakeholders (product owner & team, business analysts) to shape requirements

  • Coordinate with technical stakeholders (solution architects, security architects, infrastructure, service management, etc.) to shape maintainable, reliable, secure and cost-effective solutions.

  • Take ownership of and drive to resolution tasks, issues and dependencies

  • Work across departments (e.g. testing, business analysis, solution design, DevOps) and develop skills outside your core specialism

  • Continually improve our products, solutions and processes

  • Remain current on insurance industry and technology developments.

  • Keep track of technical debt and identify and use opportunities to reduce it.

  • Understand the total cost of ownership of your solutions (including licences, support, infrastructure)

  • Identify and manage risks within your solutions.

  • Seek opportunities to adopt continuous improvement plans. Champion efficiency, automation, and software development best practice in general.

  • Establish, enforce and improve development standards, tools and frameworks.

  • Document your work to provide continuous improvement and understanding for yourself and the team.

What you'll need:

  • A technical mindset with an interest in the latest technologies

  • Some experience or exposure to Robotics is preferable but not essential as training will be provided
