Position: Software Engineer (KTP Associate)
Based at: Badger Energy, Manchester
Salary: Circa £33,000 depending on experience
The role:
An exciting opportunity has become available to work full time on a 23-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) in electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The role involves the development of a secure multi-platform mobile application allowing electric vehicle owners to manage their vehicle's charging via their charging point at home, and via public charging points while on the road.
Employed and supported by an academic team from the University, you will be based at Badger Energy's premises in Manchester.

Qualifications/Experience required:
- Minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- A second, formal qualification in a related subject such as AI and Data Science or Cyber Security would be highly advantageous.
- Prior experience of developing multi-platform apps for iOS & Android using the Flutter, Xamarin, Ionic, or React Native development frameworks, including user testing, would be beneficial.
- Experience in developing fully functional native Android/iOS mobile applications using Java/Swift.
- Experience and deep knowledge of the full Android/iOS tech stacks e.g., Android Studio, XCode, SDK.
Role requirements:
- Software development, including user experience (UX) design and mobile app development
- Competency in a breadth of programming languages, such as Java, Swift, JavaScript, and Python
- Comfortable working with REST/JSON
- Cloud computing services, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure
- Data architecture and distributed system design
- Data engineering, analytics, and visualisation
- Software engineering testing approaches, e.g. Test-Driven & Behaviour-Driven Development
- Cyber Security practices, such as web service authentication
- Understanding of relevant regulatory and industry frameworks, such as GDPR, OCPP
- A keen interest in renewable energy solutions
- Problem solving and desire to learn
- Self-motivation and team working
- Time management
- Leadership and coaching
- Excellent communication capabilities

In recognition of staff contributions to the University's achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff. This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
