Permanent Software Engineer in Test

Full time, 36.5 hours per week

Hybrid working – Whilst we are happy to consider candidates wishing to work largely remote work, our team is based on the Streatham Campus in Exeter and we really feel visiting and spending time as a team will be valuable to being fully engaged with the team.

Salary: This is a Grade F role with a starting salary from £40,745 up to £49,841 depending on qualifications and experience.


We are looking for an individual with great QA engineering skills to join our Digital Team's rapidly expanding Engineering Chapter as a Developer in Test!

As a Developer in Test you’ll work closely Product Owners, UX designers and Application Engineers to quality assure new functionality and iterative improvements to our Digital products and services. You will lead the charge in defining the automation strategy, building and maintaining the test framework for our many new exciting projects.


This role will be an essential part of our Engineering Chapter who:

  • Create immersive high-quality solutions by applying new and innovative methods and technology. Following an agile development approach with DevOps at the core.
  • Follow DevOps practices automating as many tasks as possible to deliver solutions.
  • Delivers new services, and maintains existing platforms to enable delivery

We’re really looking for…

  • Extensive experience in platform security, performance and API testing
  • Strong software development skills.
  • Expert knowledge of how to write good tests (including unit and integration) with the test pyramid at the centre of your test strategies.
  • Experience using Cypress is essential
  • A self-motivated engineer with an appetite to explore a complex architectural and business domain, and build an industry leading test framework for it.
  • Focus on both shift left and shift right automated testing, with a relentless passion for automating everything.
  • An authority on good testing practice and love sharing this knowledge with others.
  • Expeirence using Flutter & PWA are bonus!
  • In this role you'll have the chance to work with AWS engineers throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure our products are delivered to the highest standards.
