THE OPPORTUNITY
An exciting role for a software engineer to join our rapidly growing product team working on exciting projects. This role will initially be focused on integration projects based on node.js and AWS serverless components.
We are looking for someone capable and happy both working on their own and/or as part of an agile development team, using Scrum. Someone happy to learn about new technologies who would always seek to use the right tool for the job, rather than stick with what they know. Someone who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment and is happy turning their hand to whatever is needed at the time.
You will be implementing all aspects of unique integrations via new microservices. Whilst being primarily back-end focused, some front-end work will be required.
This role is home-based with regular meetings in London and Portsmouth, along with office space to use as you choose.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
- Integrating projects based on node.js and AWS serverless architectures
- Implementing all aspects of unique integrations via new microservices
- Cloud Native Computing
- Working on your own and/or as part of an agile development team, using Scrum
- Work with event driven and streaming architecture: such as Kinesis, Kafka
- Working with Test and Behavioral Driven Development (BDD & TDD)
- Troubleshoot, research, and work through complex problems

Required skills and experience:
- Node.js and TypeScript
- AWS Serverless Architecture; particularly Lambda, Step Functions, Cognito, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Kinesis
- Event driven and streaming architecture: such as Kinesis, Kafka
- Background in Test and Behavioral Driven Development (BDD & TDD)
- Experience in developing infrastructure as code
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team
- Good understanding of REST APIs and associated security
- Experience of working with GraphQL and Pub/Sub API
- Experience developing scalable microservices solutions
- History of creating thorough documentation during design and build process
- An interest in green tech and IoT
- Ability to troubleshoot, research, and work through complex problems
- Good working knowledge of Atlassian suite
Desirable:
- Experience working a start-up environment
- History of working with data infrastructure platforms
- Experience with EV charging or energy storage advantageous but not essential
- Experience building and leading an agile development team
- Front-end JavaScript frameworks, particularly React and/or Angular
- Docker and/or Kubernetes
