Software is at the core of everything we do and as the business expands its global footprint we need to grow our software team to support this. You will be joining an existing team of engineers from a diverse range of backgrounds and will be working across a range of projects often as part of a multidiscipline engineering team.
Working within the software team to develop control system software for complex machine tools, shopfloor data management applications, vision systems, automation, and robotics. The work is varied in nature and covers a range of software skills from front end interfaces through to PLC logic. There is also an R&D element to the role, so an imaginative approach can be required. The role has a level of customer focus, so applicants should have a good balance of technical ability and confidence. The business also recognises the need to improve the methodologies and approach around software engineering. Your input into this continuous improvement cycle will be invaluable as you will bring with you a good understand of modern approaches to software development.
Your day-to-day will involve
- Working in a team developing components that support Winbro advanced machine technologies
- Customising configuration to customer specification
- Performing code reviews and testing
- Performing product testing on your own and third-party code
- Writing and maintaining development documentation such as specifications, test plans and design documentation
- Helping to lead incremental change and improvements in the software function as we look to adopt better working practices
Requirements
Degree required, ideally in Computer Science or similar. A demonstrable love of engineering with an interest in mechatronics, robotics and automation. This could have been gained during studies (examples of these interests would be needed) placement year or in the post-grad work-place.
