This is an excellent opportunity for a Learning Technologist and Software Engineer to join the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, a world top-100 University.
As our Learning Technologist and Software Engineer (LTSE), you will work closely with academic and professional services staff in the Department of Computer Science to lead the adoption of digital learning technologies. You will design, implement and maintain innovative approaches for online learning in order to support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and continuing professional development (CPD) courses.
You should have a good honours degree, preferably in a relevant technology/instructional design subject (or equivalent experience). The role involves a wide range of duties, including the creation of multimedia learning resources, uploading and organising online materials, producing training materials, and writing, adapting, testing and maintaining software, whilst also procuring larger software systems. You will also work closely with software developers who provide the Department with learning technologies. This post reports to the Director of Learning and Teaching and the Department Technical Manager.
The Department offers 3-year and 4-year undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. We have a strong reputation for innovative teaching methods based on enterprise, industrial projects and problem-based learning. At Masters level we run a MSc in Advanced Computer Science, and specialised MSc programmes in Speech and Language Processing, Data Analytics and Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.
