We are currently recruiting for Junior Software Engineers to join our tech team comprising of circa 250 colleagues, to help us deliver quality software solutions. This role is hybrid at our Manchester city centre office.

What will you be doing in this role?
As a JuniorSoftware Engineer at Tunstall, you will create and review software code, develop, and modify high quality software solutions and components based on business and customer requirements, using an agile mindset.
The Ideal candidate:
To be successful in this role you will have an interest in the full end-to-end design, and delivery of quality software. You will have an understanding of the full development life cycle within an Agile team with a familiarity with one or more programming languages (ideally C#) and object orientated programming (OOP). In addition, you will have a basic awareness of software engineeing best practices and techniques, ie – SOLID, TDD, BDD, OWASP.
You will be a proactive individual, eager to learn, and able to pick up new skills quickly. You will be an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, who enjoys collaborating and working as part of a team.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Work as part of a development team, supporting, maintaining, and developing Tunstall’s life saving and life changing technology products,
- Write code, address bugs, and deploy app/software enhancements,
- Help create programs and participate in test runs,
- Conduct development tests,
- Monitor performance of internal systems,
- Analyse user needs and software requirements to inform system design,
- Attend daily scrum meetings,
- Investigate, develop, and propose improvements to existing systems/devices,
- Interact with internal/external development teams to learn and collaborate,
- Participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities,
- Participating in estimation discussions with the product team,
- Continually look to improve coding skills.
Key skills and experience:
- An interest in software development - end-to-end design, delivery, and quality,
- An understanding of the full development lifecycle within an Agile team,
- Motivated self-starter, with a willingness to learn and pick up new skills quickly,
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages (ideally C#) and object orientated programming (OOP),
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal,
- Good team worker who enjoys collaborating with team members,
- Good problem-solving ability, able to turn ideas into practical solutions,
- A methodical approach to solving business and technical problems,
- Basic awareness of software engineering best practices and techniques e.g. SOLID, TDD, BDD, OWASP,
- A passion to deliver high quality solutions for our customers and end users.
