Our Opportunity
Thales Avionics have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineering Manager to join the team. In this role, you will lead project teams of Software Engineers to deliver innovative solutions to our customers within the field of aviation. You will plan and coordinate the process, practices and tools within the Engineering environment to suit the project requirements. You will set the goals and priorities for your team, ensuring effective governance and on time delivery for our customers.
Day to day you will:
Ensure the timely delivery of the Software Engineering Baselines (requirements and design) to implement allocated Customer and System Requirements in support of the Development & Production engineering programme.
Take responsibility, in collaboration with the Software Architect, of checking that the "Software Asset Management" aspects for the solution and the software components used in the engineering workbenches are addressed
Participate in the specification of the function and interface of products to be developed.
Be responsible for the supervision and allocation of responsibilities to the software engineering resources assigned to a programme.
Ensure the delivery of Software Releases in support of the Integration and Test Programme, including Supply Chain.
Deliver on time and to cost the software design and development products in support of the Programme schedule.
Ensure software practices and methods comply with Thales policies and product certification guidelines, including Safety & Security requirements in support of associated accreditation.
About you
You will be a proven leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your stakeholder management skills will be critical as you navigate relationships at all levels to deliver efficiently to both the business and our customers. A demonstrable record of on budget and on time delivery will be desirable, alongside seasoned experience of the full software development lifecycle.
In order to be successful you should have experience or in-depth knowledge of; software engineering lifecycle application for large complex systems, team leadership / coaching and software development in programming languages such as C, C++, Ada.

Due to the sensitive nature of much of the work, all applicants must be eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
