Thanks to sustained demand for our technical software, data science and workflow automation services, we are looking for experienced Engineers / Developers with the skills and ambition to support our continued growth in these areas.
Positions are available across our three offices in Bristol, Cambridge, and Derby.
Responsibilities:
- Have interests spanning software engineering, data science, and physics-based engineering (e.g. mechanical engineering); we will consider candidates with different balances between the three
- Interested in developing a career in technical software, optimisation, automation, physics simulation, data science, or machine learning across a range of engineering applications
- Elicit and document requirements from a variety of stakeholders
- Plan and write code for a wide variety of applications, from proof of concepts to complete packages, individually and as part of teams
- Support the technical delivery of a range of technical projects. Example projects might include writing software that predicts material behaviour, creating user-friendly interfaces to improve accessibility of complex engineering simulations, exploratory method development utilising data science and domain knowledge
- Take ownership of tasks, managing your own time effectively and working with your team leader and project managers, to ensure that listed requirements are met, and stakeholders are engaged
- Utilise and develop knowledge across domains as required and contribute to the development of new technical capabilities on live projects as well as through internal innovation projects
- Support other engineering staff with their use of software to enhance productivity
- Plan and deliver work using methods appropriate to each project (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
- Communicate with customers keeping them informed of progress
- Have a bachelor’s degree (grade 2.1 or above), Masters or PhD or in a relevant engineering, computing, science, or applied mathematics discipline
- Have working experience of software development in languages such as C#, C++ or Python
- Ideally have working experience of engineering simulation, e.g., CFD or FEA methods
- Ideally have a working knowledge of software architecture, testing, deployment, databases and front-end/GUI development
- Have excellent project management and verbal/written communication skills, enjoy client and colleague interaction and taking responsibility
- Preferably have experience of a technical consulting environment and an interest in supporting the development of other junior team members
- This role is Full Time, however we would consider applications from individuals looking for part time or reduced hours to suit their lifestyles
- The position can be based at our Cambridge, Derby or Bristol location with hybrid working on offer
- Must be capable of clearing BPSS Security Clearence
