Job description
Are you a Software Development Engineer with a strong technical skillset, curious mindset and a desire to learn? We have an exciting opportunity to join a brilliant team that is focused on maintaining and delivering change to applications that support several of YBS’s customer and colleague services. You’ll be part of a likeminded team in our Digital & Enabling domain within the IT & Transformation function. This is a hybrid role with some remote working, and some onsite presence in our Bradford office will be required on an adhoc basis.
About the role
As Software Development Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to –
Develop, document, and test software and configuration, ensuring they adhere to development standards and meet business requirements. You’ll be technically competent and experienced in applicable technologies and platforms
Maintain systems by analysing programs to diagnose and resolve live defects/ incidents
Participate in peer reviews of documentation, code, unit, and integration testing
Collaborate with architects, analysts, and product owners to transform business requirements into technical change, including performing impact analysis
Operate in an Agile delivery methodology
Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs
Ensure that system design meets the standard for architecture, scalability, performance, security and maintainability
About you
You will continually update your technical knowledge and skills using internal training as well as taking time to self-develop. What will you bring to the role?
Knowledge of one or more of the core technologies which form the basis for many of YBS’s Digital and Enabling Shared Service’s applications, including Cobol, Oracle SQL, PL/ SQL, Oracle Forms, Perforce
Can interpret complex information to develop solutions that meet the required business outcomes
Be a great communicator finding ways for non-technical people to understand technical concepts
Have experience delivering software change ideally within Financial Services and an awareness of operating in a highly regulated environment
Desirable skills include – awareness or a keen interest in developing in technologies such as Java, Spring Boot Microservices, Oracle HCM, Spring Batch and deployment through GitLab plus some knowledge, understanding and experience of developing software in a DevOps delivery methodology setting
