What you'll do

As a Lead Developer, you will be supporting, leading and encouraging teams and individuals, helping them to be at their best.
Build, support and improve coding standard methodologies to develop testable code at a high quality. Build a culture of collaboration within the engineering team and the rest of the digital organisation.
Take part in key decisions to help guide the teams towards scalable and maintainable solutions.
Working closely with the Strategy, Engineering, and Architecture team to help craft and implement Group strategies into the wider department.
Encourage and champion agile ways of working, making efforts to ensure communication and collaboration is strong.
An active part of the House leadership team, supporting the Senior Engineering Managers and Head of Technology.
Help ensure sufficient support for the services and applications we support via the on-call rota and Line-managing, mentoring, coaching and leading your team.
Contributing to the group OKRs and house delivery, defining and driving appropriate strategies and their adoption, within the squads and engineering team.
Contributing towards larger, strategic, portfolio work, ensuring they meet our engineering principles.

What you'll bring

Experience of collaborating with team members, squads and wider areas of Sky to find opportunities for collaboration and learning to help benefit Sky and the delivery of our products.
A fundamental understanding of back-end focused technologies with commercial development experience in either PHP, Python or TypeScript
Experience with all parts of the development process, including monitoring and observability, automated CI/CD pipelines and backend integrations while collaborating closely in a multi-functional team.
Experience using TDD to deliver enterprise-quality code.
Creativity and keenness to push forward internal development through participation in guilds, sharing knowledge, keeping on top of the newest technologies and encouraging an open, learning mentality.
