The Software Developer within Health Education & Improvement Wales (HEIW) will be responsible for the design and development of national software application used across NHS Wales.
Working as part of the Digital team the post holder will be a software development specialist experienced with designing, developing and implementing technical software solutions to meet business requirements and support the organisation in the achievement of its strategic objectives. The HEIW Digital team develop bespoke applications to support NHS Wales where no ‘off the shelf’ solutions exist. The team also supports organisational systems procurement and the integration of new systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to join HEIW’s Digital team in a permanent role.
The Software Developer is responsible for the development and support of national software applications used across NHS Wales.
Working as part of the Digital team the post holder will be a software development specialist, experienced with developing and implementing technical software solutions to meet business requirements and support the organisation in the achievement of its strategic objectives. The HEIW Digital team develop bespoke applications to support NHS Wales where no ‘off the shelf’ solutions exist, using PHP (Laravel), Ajax, MySQL on Cloud services. The team also supports the corporate website built in the Mura CMS.
The Software Developer will ensure that projects produce the required deliverables within the defined quality, time and cost constraints and facilitate full realisation of benefits defined in the associated business cases.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

On October 1 2018 a new statutory body within NHS Wales came into being, working across the health and education sectors. Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) oversees the strategic development of the health workforce in Wales, including workforce planning, leadership development and education commissioning. It sits alongside existing Health Boards and Trusts to be the eleventh member of the NHS Wales family.
HEIW are unable to provide sponsorship to work within the UK. This role is office based at Ty Dysgu, Nantgarw, CF15 7QQ
