Duties and responsibilities

In the Developer role, you will:

  • develop software to meet user needs
  • follow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines
  • write clean, secure and well-tested code
  • coach and mentor more junior colleagues
  • operate the services you build and identify issues in production

Person specification

About you

As a Developer you will play an important role in the design, build, support, implementation and improvement of digital services, products and platforms across DfT. You will have good communication skills and enjoy working in agile teams to build services and participate in developing our own team capabilities.

Experience

You will have:

  • proven experience of developing software to meet user needs
  • the ability to write clean, secure and well-tested code
  • proven experience of designing technically complex and secure information systems in collaboration with stakeholders.

Additional Information

A minimum of 40% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
