Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join our General Adolescent Unit in The Lookout at Hopewood.

We are seeking a clinician with experience from local authority, private or voluntary sectors to join us in our service. The successful candidate will be working with young people aged 13-18 who are experiencing a range of mental health and emotional difficulties.

This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your social work skills within an NHS setting alongside an established and supportive MDT.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.

The post holder will provide a social work service to young people and their families during their inpatient admission to Phoenix Ward.

There will be a defined patient caseload (Maximum of 12) as well as providing consultation and contributing to the care of others admitted to the service

You will work alongside the Multi-disciplinary team to contribute to formulation processes, ensuring a lead for safeguarding, providing necessary social work assessments for young people and their families, attending relevant meetings and liaising with professionals from internal/external agencies.

There will be training and development opportunities as well as the opportunity to support training and development within the team.

You will be supported to access supervision and may be required to provide supervision to others.

Hopewood Hospital in Sherwood, Nottingham opened in 2018. This new build created a large expansion of our CAMHS service.

Our inpatient services are based on site with an education facility for our inpatients, a CAMHS community base with specialist teams and both inpatient and community perinatal teams.

Phoenix Ward is a busy 12 bedded general acute ward 24 hours a day, providing highly specialist services, 7 days a week, to young people aged 12 to 18, who are experiencing a range of mental health and emotional difficulties. We have a large MDT and lots of opportunity to ensure a wide range of therapeutic intervention.

Hercules Ward is an 8 bedded psychiatric intensive care unit that works with young people experience severe and enduring mental health problems. We work closely with families and a full MDT to ensure positive outcomes for young people and we encourage staff to be fully involved in patients care and participate in both group and 1:1 work.

Pegasus Ward is a SEDU. Family based treatment is integral to the treatment and recovery of young people with eating disorders and families and carers are encouraged to be fully involved in their care; there are therefore opportunities for staff to be involved in family work as well as individual & group work with the young people.

Whilst this role is largely based on Phoenix Ward there will be opportunity to work with Hercules and Phoenix Wards providing cross cover to both services.
