Job description
We have an exciting opportunity within North Kent Children in Care Service for 2 fixed term Social Work Assistants to join the service for a period of 6 months.
Both posts are for a fixed period of 6 months.
North Kent Children in Care Service have 2 offices based in Swanley and Swale. These roles will be based at Swale Local Office in Sittingbourne but will support the wider service for Swale, Gravesham and Dartford.
The right candidate will be self-motivated and committed to providing support to young people. You should have good communication and IT skills and an understanding of the needs of children, young people and their families.
The focus of the work is to support the statutory role of the Social Worker, which includes direct pieces of work with children and their families and assisting Social Workers in any other identified tasks. You will also be required to supervise family time between children and their families, as well as supporting our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking children in developing their independence skills. The right candidate will have a keen interest in working with children and their families and working within some complex situations.
Providing support is essential to our service users so the ability to produce good reports and case notes, collate information and liaise with social workers and other professionals to inform the complex court work is another key element of the role.
You will need to be able to demonstrate that you can develop good working relationships with the families, foster carers and other professionals.
