We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Health Care Support Worker’s to join our team within the Gynaecology Outpatients Department here at Birmingham Women’s Hospital.
This opportunity will expose you to a breadth of experience in the busy Gynaecology Departments.
You will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is well organised and has excellent communication skills. You will be flexible and used to working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You will be an effective team player with a flexible approach who can plan and organise their workload, prioritising as required. You will be eager to learn
and have an interest in Gynaecology and Women’s Health.
You will provide effective, compassionate and confidential patient-centered care and support. You will escalate in line with Departmental and Trust Policy and Guidance.
- To assist the clinician during clinic in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care, ensuring the registered nurse is regularly updated on patient's condition and progress where appropriate.
- To receive patients into the unit, complete first line clinical assessments verification of the patients ID, height, weight, BMI, venepuncture, basic observations, NEWS 2, Specimen Collection, ECG's.
- Undertake competencies supported by Clinical Specialities SOP's as agreed by Outpatients Clinical Manager.
- To coordinate the patient flow through clinic, calling the patients through and escorting them to the clinician's room in a timely manner.
- Ensure the couch roll is changed between patients and the couch cleaned.
- Ensure the clinic room is cleaned and stocked up at the end of every clinic.
- To minimise hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the nurse in charge. To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area.
- To perform venepuncture
