Job description
McLaren Racing has long committed to competing with the best teams, at the leading edge of technology on the world’s biggest stages. McLaren Racing’s upcoming entry into Formula E alongside our inaugural year in Extreme E will accelerate our understanding of EV technology as part of our sustainability journey while reaching a new, more diverse global audience.
We’ve moved fearlessly forward through almost six decades to become who we are today. We’re taking the lead in creating a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone is valued, and where we can all be our best. We’re shaping a team and culture that rewards performance. We’re building a better world.
This is what it really means to be fearless.
The challenge
As part McLaren Racing’s Digital & Social Media Team, you will lead the day-to-day activity across all social media channels pertaining to both the NEOM McLaren Formula E and NEOM McLaren Extreme E teams, with the objective of growing and engaging with a diverse global audience.
Reporting into the Social Media Manager, and working alongside our Formula 1, IndyCar and esports social media teams, you will be responsible for devising innovative and creative social media content plans for McLaren’s electric vehicle racing series, publishing across a range of platforms, and shooting social-first video at events.
Your team
You’ll be working with some of the best creative minds in the business, closely collaborating with departments across Marketing and the wider team; from supporting our partnerships teams with partner social media activations, to helping the People and Sustainability teams to convey our messaging about diversity, inclusion and our green initiatives.
It’s a fast-paced team, that’s not 9-5. You’ll be working some evening and weekends to support our racing and will entail some unsocial hours. Culturally it’s a fun, supportive, ambitious and delivery focused team that provides members with autonomy and opportunity through the multiple racing series we support, to rapidly grow your skill base and experience in the digital marketing space.
Your day-to-day
You’ll spend your time:
- Working closely with the Social Media Manager to develop innovative and creative social media content plans.
- Publishing content for social channels across all platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube TikTok and Weibo.
- Hands-on content creation at events using DSLR equipment, and editing social-first video on Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Day-to-day management of social media communities, adhering to the overarching communications strategy and objectives, maintaining McLaren’s tone of voice across all content.
- Driving continued growth in McLaren’s social media fanbase and engagement rate.
- Working closely with McLaren’s colleagues to drive continued growth for the McLaren Plus loyalty programme through social media activations across all platforms.
- Liaising with McLaren’s Partnership Management team to devise and execute partner campaigns across McLaren’s social media channels.
- Assisting with the planning and execution of social media marketing campaigns.
- Providing support to the Digital Data & Insights Analyst to report and analyse McLaren’s performance across all social media channels and implement findings from reports.
- Monitoring and reporting on updates across social media platforms and wider market trends.
Your story
To join our race for performance, you’ll need:
- Established social media and community management background, including proven experience in managing the day-to-day activity on a major brand social media account across multiple platforms (either client or agency side).
- Excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills, demonstrating a clear understanding of social media tone of voice.
- A passion for social media community engagement and an understanding of the role that social media plays in sports fan engagement.
- Demonstratable experience of shooting and editing social-first video content using DSLR cameras and mobile phones.
- Experience of delivering social media marketing campaigns, including fluency with the back-end tools pertaining to social media marketing.
- Ability to spot establishing social media trends.
- Ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
- Ability to create content for organic, boosted and paid formats, with a clear understanding of the different nuances between the three.
- Experience of using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to edit social media graphics.
