Overview:
Food Standards Scotland (FSS) is a changing organisation with big ambitions – and marketing and communications has an enormous role to play. This is an opportunity to work in our growing and ambitious team to contribute towards improving the health of our nation and ensuring consumer protection in relation to all things food and the food environment.
We’re looking for someone to join our Communications & Marketing team to deliver engaging social media content to support the delivery of the organisation’s strategic objectives.
Reporting to the Head of Digital and Content, you will be responsible for managing, analysing and growing our social media channels. Producing engaging content, you’ll proactively identify opportunities across all social channels to raise awareness of FSS to key stakeholders and Scottish consumers.
You will be comfortable using social media management software (Sprout Social) to engage clearly and concisely with our social media followers on a range of topics. You will also have experience of using Canva or software (Adobe Creative Cloud) for creating social graphics and basic video editing.
FSS is adopting a hybrid working model and there is an opportunity to work from home with occasional travel to our Aberdeen office.

- Plan, create and schedule engaging posts and respond to comments and messages across all FSS social media platforms
- Lead the creation of branded digital content to develop graphics, video, and other digital assets to provide tailored messaging across our social channels
- Work closely with subject matter specialists and the wider Communications and Marketing team to plan and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to help achieve FSS strategic goals
- Use social media management and website analytics tools to monitor and report on social media performance and use insights to identify opportunities for improvement
- Monitor emerging social media trends to refine the FSS social media strategy
- Work with influencers and relevant partners to add credibility and leverage FSS campaigns where appropriate

1. Demonstrable ability to write engaging copy and produce branded digital content to engage effectively with a diverse range of audiences across all social media platforms
