Leading our Social Media & Communications team of student creatives, you will manage our social media channels and online presence, ensuring that all content is up-to-date, relevant, and in line with our brand guidelines. You will work closely with the wider Marketing & Development directorate to ensure that all our messages are aligned with our strategic goals.
In this role, you will work closely with our student creatives to develop and execute effective social media and communications campaigns that reach our target audiences.
As our Social Media & Communications Manager, you will work in collaboration with our Director of Marketing & Development, Marketing & Events Manager and Research & Insight Manager to develop new, exciting and innovative strategies in paid social, SEO and email marketing. For any new strategy work, you would work with student creatives to help shape and deliver them.
You will also work with and brief our Design Manager and the wider design team to create artwork, assets, graphics and other media to utilize across our social media and digital channels.
A typical working day looks like...
You will be working within a dynamic Marketing & Communications focussed directorate, alongside colleagues specialising in Consumer Marketing, Brand Marketing, Events, Design and Insight. This will involve taking part in creative workshops and briefing sessions. You will also lead our team of talented student creatives. We have a range of student creatives working on the creation and delivery of our social media content, email marketing and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) content work. You would create briefs for them and lead your own creative workshops ensuring students are at the heart of our social media and communications work.
Day to day this might include working on plans for upcoming campaigns, writing briefs for content creators, researching the latest digital trends and using online analytics to evaluate engagement across our channels. An element of this role will be generating ideas and concepts for primary content which may include filming, taking photographs and then working with our student content creators to further develop those ideas for our channels. Similarly, working alongside our Marketing & Events Manager this role would lead on the production of written content, managing a team of student copywriters, for a wide range of styles and formats.
You would also brief our design team on creating artwork, graphics and other assets to use across all our social media and digital channels
What you'll be doing:
- Create communication plans and deliver the Union’s yearly key messages calendar.
- Working in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Development, Marketing & Events Manager and Research & Insight Manager, develop strategies for paid social, email marketing and SEO content and implement them through a team of student creatives to deliver those strategies.
- Build relationships and collaborate with university teams and departments, and other stakeholders/influencers.
- Manage the production of persuasive and effective communications copy for a variety of audiences and across multiple marketing formats including social media, e-mail, print and web content. Job Description & Person Specification
- Manage the production of digital content for and day-to-day management of the Students’ Union’s social media platforms, including creating a content calendar aligning with campaign plans.
- Coach, train and support union staff, student officers and students on social media and content, including creating how-to and best practice guides and delivering training.
- Measure, check and evaluate the Students’ Union’s communications plans, campaigns, and activity, supplying regular reports and commentary.
