Job description
Are you a Vet looking for a GP-vet role in a very warm and friendly team at a lovely village practice with gentle clients?
We are looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our supportive and happy band at the Kinver branch of Severn Edge Veterinary Group in South Staffordshire, bordering Shropshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands.
This role would suit someone who likes knowing their clients and seeks case continuity with their patients. You will enjoy being in a small close-knit team, helping each other out throughout the day. You consider yourself a capable GP-vet and take pleasure in the range of work this entails.
The practice carries out the normal range of GP-vet duties including consultations, dentistry, diagnostics and medical work-ups, neutering and other surgical procedures.
You will be joining a team of: our supportive, warm and experienced vet; 2 long-standing receptionists who know our clients well; 2 experienced and efficient RVNs; an enthusiastic and motivated SVN and 2 friendly, helpful Patient Care Assistants.
Our team enjoy arranging to meet up out of work for meals and bringing home made cakes or other treats to share with each other. They are very welcoming to new members of the team and support each other as colleagues and friends.
We have a nicely balanced diary:
- Consulting 9am-11am
- Then following on, after a break, with one or two procedures each day
- One hour's break for lunch that is rarely missed or shortened
- Consulting 2pm-3pm
- A break 3-4pm to get refreshed and catch up with any notes, lab reports and client calls
- The evening consulting session runs from 4pm-6:30pm
Consultations are 15 minutes as standard and extended to 30 minutes where required, such as for euthanasia appointments and complicated cases. The diary is well-managed with slots reserved for on-the-day cases which makes squeezed-in bookings a rarity.
Our 24 hospital in Bridgnorth is just 20 minutes away. This means this role has no OOHs or on-call requirement. Support from the team at the Hospital is also available to our branches for any help with cases requested through the daytime.
A full time position consists of 4 days a week 8:30am - 6:45pm and a place on the Saturday morning rota. Please get in touch if you are interested in a part time position or any alternative pattern of work, we'd love to hear from you.
We are very lucky to have access to beautiful local countryside of Shropshire Hills, Kinver Edge, Clee Hills, Stiperstones and the Long Mynd but still within travelling distance of Birmingham, Telford and Shrewsbury. There are great transport links to major roads, trains and canals!
We offer career progression, no OOH's, the opportunity to pursue areas of clinical interest and the chance to build a loyal client base.
We know that benefits are key, and that your personal benefits priorities will differ from others. Holidays, pensions, discounts, paternal leave, fee payments or share save schemes might be your priority. Flexible working is essential for others, and we are very open to finding a creative working pattern that suits. For clinical staff, CPD is probably critical. Just so you know we offer a wide range of amazing CPD – you'll have access to Knowledge Hub, the best online veterinary learning resource within the industry - and we also offer an allowance to spend on external courses too. If you'd like to learn more, do feel free to contact the recruiter managing this campaign and ask them to talk you through our offerings.
