Title Sleep-in Care Assistant
Reports to Night Team Leader (Residential)
Stakeholders Service users, families, and colleagues
Working hours 12 hours per night with 4 hours of Care Assistant duties and 8 hours sleep, where the postholder may be called upon to assist with care. This is a sleep-in position, where you will be required to stay on-site during the night shift. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required to work weekends and bank holidays as necessary.
2 Positions available, 1 working 4 nights and the other working 3 nights a week.
An hourly rate of £14.44 for work completed between 19:00-22:00 and 06:00-07:00, and any awake hours during the night in which the employee is awake for the purpose of working. An additional On Call Night allowance of £40 will be paid per shift.
Place of Work Wilhelmina House. You will be provided with suitable accommodation and amenities for sleeping during the shift.
Summary of Role
- As a Sleep-in Care Assistant, you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring our residents' safety, comfort, and well-being while they sleep.
Key areas of Responsibility
- To assist residents with their night-time routines care routines.
- To carryout the cleaning tasks stated in the night checklist.
- To carry out regular checks on residents as directed by the Night Team Leader (Residential).
- To respond to residents' calls for assistance during your waking hours.
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to residents' care and any incidents that occur.
- To liaise with colleagues to ensure continuity of care throughout the night shift.
- To report any issues or concerns to the Night Team Leader (Residential) or another senior member of staff.
- To attend staff meetings and discussions held in the home during the night as directed by the Home Manager in accordance with Whitgift Care Policies and Procedures.
- To record accurately the administration, the documentation/record keeping, and any paperwork as required within the scope of the role and as reasonably requested by the Home Manager or her Deputies.
Personal and Professional Development
- To attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management.
- To understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role.
- To attend supervision sessions.
- To participate actively in training programmes and to attend relevant courses as required.
- To carry out instructions to maintain standards of health and safety and adhere to the Whitgift Care Policies and Procedures relevant to your role.
Other matters
- Maintain confidentiality of personal information regarding service users and staff and all other matters relating to the home.
- Maintain a high level of professional conduct at all times.
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene at all times.
- Report any resident complaints and take remedial action as soon as possible.
- Report immediately any accidents, damage, or maintenance problem.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers.
