Role Overview
Applications are invited for the permanent position of Skipper on the Tayinloan - Gigha route.
The Skipper is in command over all departments and has authority to take whatever actions are necessary for the safety of passengers, crew and the vessel, protection of the environment and proper conduct of the voyage
Functional Responsibilities/Key Tasks
The Skipper has overriding responsibility and accountability for
- The safety and care of the vessel;
- The management and safety of the crew;
- The care of the passengers and cargo;
- The protection of the marine environment;
- The security of the vessel;
- Ensuring strict implementation and maintenance of the Company Management System;
- Drawing the Marine Manager's attention to any non-conformances and who will authorise appropriate action;
- Chairing the on-board Safety Committee Meeting and approving and ensuring implementation of actions therefrom;
- Liaising closely with the Marine Managers and Technical Superintendents on issues affecting the serviceability and safe operation of the vessel
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential Criteria
- Applicants should possess as a minimum STCW2010:
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting
- Elementary First Aid
- ENG1 Medical Certificate (no limitations)
- Boatmaster Tier 1 Level 2.
- Passenger ship endorsement.
- RoRo endorsement.
- Command experience
Desirable Criteria
- STCW II/3 Master (Near Coastal, 500GT) CoC
- Valid UK Drivers Licence
