The Highway Maintenance team are responsible for the routine maintenance of the roads, footway, signs and lines across Swindon which is set to increase 30% over the next five years as the Council delivers ambitious expansion plans, which are required to facilitate the growth and regeneration of Swindon. This provides homes, jobs, recreational opportunities and a high quality environment for residents, visitors and employers alike.

Your next role
As a Skilled Road Worker, you will be required to carry out all types of maintenance work associated with the highway asset. You will also carry out a variety of repairs on the highway as well as help to deliver larger projects throughout the Borough.
You should be prepared to work in all weather and you will be asked to take part in an out of hour’s standby rota attending emergency situations to assess and repair and to deliver our Winter Service Programme.
There may be opportunity for this role to work overtime as and when required.
A driving licence is essential. If you do not hold a HGV licence, your application will be considered providing you’re willing to be trained to obtain this once in employment
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the performance of a customer facing role.
