Reporting into the Production Director, the Site Operations Manager will work in collaboration with the Customer Service Manager, and all production related departments, to meet customer quality and delivery requirements through the attainment of great service.
The Role:
- Provide leadership to the Production Manager and to deliver the plan by month ensuring the budgeted financial performance of the site is achieved
- To utilise the PerformSmart™ software to drive operational performance and productivity
- To ensure that the Company Objectives for OTD and reject rate are consistently maintained
- Organise the daily QDIP walkthrough to promote leadership and look for waste in process to drive Continuous Improvement to meet the objectives
- Maintain daily delivery schedules to ensure parts are delivered on the day required
- Ensure critical promise dates are met and communicated to all parties
- Report machine breakdowns and proposal of corrective actions, ensuring Preventative Machine Maintenance is conducted
- Oversee key recruitment and talent development programs, with the assistance of the HR Manager, including planning of inductions for new joiners and updating the skills matrix
- Co-ordinate the development of key performance goals for functions and direct reports
- Provide support and feedback to Team Leaders in control of tooling expenditure and tool utilisation to meet overhead tooling budget
- Responsible for implementing a Certified Operator Program to take responsibility for product quality back to the Shopfloor and away from inspectors to ‘Build in Quality’
- Ensure adherence to Health and Safety standards and environmental regulations in compliance with the Company policy to ensure safe working environment
- Engage in key or targeted customer activity on site and liaison with the central sales department
- Evaluation and proposals upon key investments in equipment, infrastructure and personnel
- Key stakeholder and communicator with central functions including Sales, HR, Planning, Quality and Finance
The Person:
- Apprentice trained Engineer or HND or above in a technical discipline
- Proven management / supervisory experience gained in a production / operations role, within the manufacturing sector, ideally having a Production Engineering background
- Good knowledge of Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Very good practical knowledge of planning methods and Capacity Planning in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical yet action orientated
- Strong communication, organisational and time management skills
- Exceptional team working skills with good planning and prioritising of objectives
- Ability to influence others across a matrix organisation
- An engerised individual with a passion for working with people and processes
