Introducing the role
Our Engineering department are seeking a skilled and motivated Chargehand to join their Engineering and Maintenance Team. As a Chargehand, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and supervising varied maintenance activities within the department. Tasks include coordinating building works, maintenance of water flow through our mill leat and providing support and guidance to your team in all aspects of building work across our production site. Liaising and negotiating with contractors on cost and materials you will also be responsible for our grounds maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background within the building trade, have woodworking, metalworking and bricklaying skills and experience in leading a small team, ensuring they meet all health, safety and quality requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven supervisory and leadership skills
- NVQ 2 or equivalent in building trade with 5 years min experience
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- A good level of numeracy, literacy and computer literacy (including Microsoft Excel/Outlook)
- Proven ability to liaise with all levels of employees across the business
- A flexible and logical approach
- Full driving licence
