Position Overview:

As a Shop Assistant at Bibury Trout Farm, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the smooth operation of our farm shop. You will assist customers, handle transactions, and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the shop. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic environment with a passion for customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service:

- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.

- Answer customer inquiries, provide product information, and offer recommendations.

- Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns or issues promptly and professionally.

- Assist customers with the selection of products.

2. Sales and Transactions:

- Operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately.

- Maintain an organized and well-stocked sales floor, ensuring products are properly labelled and displayed.

- Package and wrap products according to customers' preferences or specific requirements.

3. Product Knowledge and Maintenance:

- Develop a thorough understanding of the various products offered at Bibury Trout Farm, including fresh and smoked fish, and related merchandise.

- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the shop, including shelves, display cases, and counters.

- Rotate merchandise to maintain freshness and quality.

- Monitor and report any product defects or quality issues to the supervisor.

4. Team Collaboration:

- Collaborate effectively with other shop assistants and farm staff to ensure a cohesive and productive work environment.

- Assist with other tasks as needed, including restocking shelves, processing orders, or cleaning work areas.

5. Health and Safety:

- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.

- Maintain a clean and hygienic personal appearance, including wearing appropriate uniforms or protective equipment as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred, ideally in a retail or hospitality setting.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.

- Basic math skills and attention to detail for accurate cash handling and inventory management.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays, as required.
