Faststream is working with the leading global recycler of scrap metal, with over 150 locations across the world. We are working together in search of a Ships Agent to be based in Warrington.

As a Ships Port Agent, you will be responsible for managing vessel arrivals, departures, and movements to and from multiple ports, arranging port services, and completing and issuing relevant documentation, such as bills of lading, manifests, and stowage plans. You will also be required to process invoices and disbursement accounts and communicate vessel progress to the necessary parties while dealing with day-to-day operational activities and issues.

The role...
As a Ships Port Agent, you will be responsible for managing vessel arrivals, departures, and movements to and from multiple ports, arranging port services, and completing and issuing relevant documentation, such as bills of lading, manifests, and stowage plans. You will also be required to process invoices and disbursement accounts and communicate vessel progress to the necessary parties while dealing with day-to-day operational activities and issues.
The responsibility...
- Managing the arrivals, movements, and departures of vessels to, within, and from multiple various ports
- Liaising with vessels and arranging port services for this process with an understanding of ports, tides, locks, and rivers
- Completing and issuing various documentation, i.e. bills of lading, manifests, stowage plans, internal and outside authorities’ requirements i.e. customs and immigration, estimates
- Processing and finalising invoices and disbursement accounts
- Communicating vessel progress to required parties and dealing with day-to-day operational activities and issues
- Confident communicator – email, telephone, face to face
- Experience working in a shipping environment
- Flexibility to work overtime evenings and weekends, (every third weekend)
- Knowledge of Outlook/word / Excel – training given on other internal shipping programmes, internet for port external systems, and research
- Think on your feet
- Can do attitude
- Must have the right to work in the UK
