We are looking for a Shift Manager to be based at our Tilbrook site - (fixed morning shift: 06:00am-14:00pm) Monday to Friday.

The position holder will assist and support the Contract Manager by organising and managing the contract operational function of the warehouse (Goods In, Order Preparation, Inventory movements, Goods Outbound, etc), in such a manner as to produce the best efficiency and provide the best possible service to the customer within the economic constraints of the business.

The roles will offer a salary range of £34,000.00 - £37,000.00 per annum.

Key responsibilities:

Health, Safety and Environmental Management
  • Ensure full internal and legislative compliance around H&S & audit to include updated SSOW, Risk assessments and all staff training completed in line with duties undertaken.
  • Ensure all accidents and near misses are accurately reported in accordance with company procedure in a timely manner. And are fully investigated with root cause analysis and corrective actions implemented to prevent reoccurrence.

Operational Management
  • Safeguard YLUK’s position by ensuring delivery on expectations for quality, service, and cost.
  • Lead operational team and oversee operational activities to ensure customer orders are achieved in an efficient manner achieving customer expectations.
  • Ensure headcount is effectively managed and planned to ensure sufficient resource to meet expected customer delivery requirements.
  • Activity and forecast planning – co-ordinating the best practice across the business, utilising all available resources.

People Management
  • Recruit, manage and develop the contract team to meet the needs of the business.
  • Maintain and build excellent employee relations, through leadership and motivation of the team.
  • Identify and ensure delivery of training requirements of all colleagues to ensure continuous and progressive improvements for both the individual and the operation.
  • Ensure all company ER procedures, including absence, performance, holiday, etc are managed and adhered to in a consistent and fair manner. Participating in and supporting the Company Disciplinary process as necessary.

Process Improvement
  • Identify and be accountable for the implementation of continual improvements through forward planning and the introduction of ‘key tangible initiatives.
  • Self-audit against processes and procedures.
  • Maintaining standards and disciplines. Improvement of internal contract audit scores year-on-year with zero high risk non-conformances.
  • Investigation reporting on Non-conformances. Promote Kaizen and Right First-Time principles within the team.



Key requirements
  • Strong people management skills
  • Experience of managing warehouse operations
  • Demonstrable experience managing a team in a warehouse environment.
  • Proven ability to interface with customers.
  • Proactive and flexible approach
  • PC literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages, Outlook, excel and Word
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
