Shift Manager (Early Shift) - Coventry National Hub
£41,364 per annum (dependent on experience) plus potential 15% bonus and 25 days annual leave per year, plus bank holidays

Parcelforce Coventry National Hub has a vacancy for an Early Shift Manager who is responsible for operations across the shift and leading the successful achievement of quality of service, productivity, automation, employee and financial targets.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Shift Manager, as Shift Manager you’ll be accountable for the key measurement KPIs (efficiency, quality, employee & customer) and undertake trend analysis on all the shift performance measures in order to identify improvement opportunities.
With direct line manager responsibility for a team of 4 Frontline Managers (who are accountable for 90 operatives), you’ll provide support via mentoring and 121 coaching, conduct performance reviews, co-ordinate training plans and maintain resource planning activity for the shift. You’ll Manage the conduct code and attendance procedures whilist assist in resolving day to day IR issues and negotiating with union representatives.
Safety is key and you’ll promote a positive attitude to health and safety issues amongst shift team, in liaison with union H&S representatives. You’ll lead the shift team in the review and maintenance of health and safety arrangements, ensuring all staff working in the automation area are aware of the COSHH regulations.
Furthermore, you’ll play an active part in driving efficiencies by developing and implementing improvement plans and new work plans across the shift. You’ll support management team in local planning and implementation of specific initiatives and develop and maintain contingency plans
Attendance hours: The core hours for this role will be between 07:00am and 15:15pm. However, a degree of flexibility will needed to maintain business requirements.
About you
You need to demonstrate the following skills and experience on your CV.
- Operations: Comprehensive and unique understanding of all aspects of Hubs Operations. Front line experience obtained at the Hubs/Depots
- Site Management: Significant experience in managing autonomous (standalone) operational sites
- Project Management: Previous experience in managing projects from planning right through to deployment
- People: Excellent people management skills and proven experience of managing teams
- Finance: Budget management and experience in setting budget forecasts, developing and implementing duty revisions.
- Planning: Experience of planning duty revisions, logistics changes, special events and contingency plans. Experienced in influencing process changes to frontline teams, senior management and up to senior board members.
- Communications: Excellent verbal and written communications skills, being able to impart relevant knowledge and notifications in a structured manner to a wide selection of colleagues within Parcelforce and externally if necessary.
