Molycop's twelve grinding media operations are strategically located around the world to service the growing global mining industry, particularly in copper, gold, and iron ore sectors. Molycop’s locations are in Chile, Peru, Mexico, USA, Canada, Indonesia, Spain, and Australia.

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for all supervisory duties of a production crew to achieve the department objectives in the areas of health and safety, environmental compliance, quality, production, cost, and customer satisfaction.

The normal shift rotation consists of two dayshifts, followed by two nightshifts, then four days off. Regular shifts are twelve hours in length.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct a production team of 6-12 bargaining unit employees in a fast-paced manufacturing facility on a continuous shift rotation.
  • Ensure employees are trained and competent to perform their duties. This includes formal training, informal coaching, on the job mentoring, documented observation, and follow-up.
  • Manage the day-to-day labour relations on the crew – attendance management, disability management, disciplinary process, and handle grievances as required.
  • Promptly investigate safety incidents and ensure follow-up actions are taken to prevent recurrence. Inform the Safety Coordinator of all incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or relevant post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn other computer systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to develop, maintain relationships, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing practices.
