Safety, Health, Environmental & Fire Advisor
Location: Southampton
Permanent - Full time (37.5 hours)
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 + Company car/allowance + Benefits
Key Purpose:
The Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) Advisor will support operations with guidance and solutions to ensure work activities of VIVO employees and their subcontractors in completed in a safe manner complying with current regulations and adhering to Safety Operating Procedures [SOP] held within VIVO and its parent companies.
The role focuses on Health, Safety, Environment, & Fire with the Built Estate Contracts in Defence.
The SHEF Advisor will report to the Head of SHEF functionally but will also have a subject matter expert support & engagement relationship with Built Estate – Billable Works Operational personnel, & Contractors within designated contracts.
You will be based out of your local RAF/MoD site, covering sites in Southampton/Gosport. This role will see you travel between sites in these areas conducting site inspections so a willingness to travel is essential.
Key Accountabilities:
To provide support, advise to Operational Management teams which ensures that construction activities are carried out safely and in full compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and SOP’s applicable to CDM 2015.
Provide the same level of Health and Safety support, advise and general H&S training for all other non-construction work activities, including where relevant, Soft FM, Grounds Maintenance and office work.
Attend and contribute to management meetings, produce monthly informative and analytical reports, undertaking frequent site inspections to monitor compliance and were needed taking decisive actions.
Run project activities as agreed within the SHEF activities. Delivering general, none accredited health and safety training as required Assisting the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in the delivery of their duties Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work activities across a large geographical area Taking appropriate action where any H&S management is failing. Writing and/or contributing to the contract and business monthly H&S report Assisting operational managers where necessary in facilitating liaison Attend coordination / cooperation meetings with clients. Supporting the health and safety audit regime ensuring that BS 45001 certification is maintained Support Sustainability initiatives across all contracts Support VIVO Zero Harm initiatives across all contracts
What You Need To Do The Job: NEBOSH certificate P405 – Asbestos Management (preferred) Fire Risk Assessment accredited qualification (IOSH / BSC etc: ) Membership of Association for Project Safety (APS) or Equivalent Organisation Graduate Member of IOSH, & working towards Chartered Member Good communication skills Experience of H&S management in construction Demonstrable knowledge of current and relevant H&S legislation Presentation skills including delivery of training Data Analysis and Report Writing A good level of skill in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
