Job ref: SLRD012023
Location: Hybrid working with access to PSS Shared Lives sites Liverpool, Wales and Midlands
Salary: £23,400 per annum

Contract type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2024
At PSS, we’ve got an important job to do; and that’s to help people make the most of their lives. Whether you’re working directly with the people who use our services, or behind the scenes in one of our offices, every day you’ll be helping to make other people feel happier, healthier and more supported.
We’re a social enterprise or, as we like to call it – a ‘business with a heart’, which means all the money we make goes back into finding new ways to help people. Our aim is simple; we want to help people change their lives for the better – no matter what life throws at them.
Shared Lives is a little bit like fostering, but with the big difference that it’s for adults who need some support to live as independently as possible. Shared Lives supports people who need a bit of extra help with daily things like cooking, cleaning, ironing and getting out and about to the shops. Our Shared Lives service supports people with learning difficulties, older people, people who experience mental health issues as well as people with physical and sensory impairment. Our matchmaker extraordinaire development workers pair these people up with the perfect carer who give them a bed and a nice space to call their own, in their family home. They’ll get them settled in the local community, provide as much or as little support as they need and basically give them a hand in living a happy, fulfilled life.
Each Shared Lives arrangement is built around the individual person, their hopes and dreams and who’ll be a good fit for them to live with. Our big-hearted Shared Lives team work very hard indeed to make sure people are well matched, that both carers and people using the service feel supported and – most of all – that everyone is happy. This requires tons of organisation, an open-mind and the energy of the Duracell Bunny – that’s why they could do with your help.
In your role as Shared Lives referral driver, you’ll have the super important job of helping to grow our relationships with potential, existing and new commissioners, as well as Local Authority teams, NHS bodies and other third-sector organisations/care providers. We’re looking for someone who’ll be passionate, driven and determined when it comes to building on our reputation and driving growth opportunities for our Shared Lives service.
You’ll be self-directed, driven and determined in your approach to grow our Shared Lives service. You’ll be a natural when it comes to talking to people and helping them see the incredible benefits of our Shared Lives service. It’ll be your job to identify and secure potential growth opportunities as well as deliver on them.
As an advocate for Shared Lives, you’ll be passionate about the service and be motivated to help our service grow. You’ll be able to talk to all different types of people about the amazing benefits of using our Shared Lives service. You’ll have excellent communication skills and be able to build rapport with people easily, that might be families thinking about using Shared Lives, Local Authority or other third sector organisations.
You'll also do things like accepting referrals, monitoring the progress of the referrals that come through, and making sure everyone involved is kept up to date and in the loop. You’ll also maintain our records using our in-house system, report on KPI and write any reports when necessary/requested.
This is a varied role, so as well as being our Shared Lives cheerleader (no pompoms needed), you’ll also be our Shared Lives people person and make sure that the people who are using our service are having a great experience. This might include things like supporting someone through a sensitively planned move from the family home into their new Shared Lives accommodation, or supporting someone to use our Matching Lives website, as well as lots of other lovely things.
If you’re ready to get in the driver's seat of our Shared Lives referral driver role, check out our full job descriptions for more information.
Candidates who consider themselves to be disabled will also be given the opportunity to attend an interview if they meet the essential criteria for the role
