Job description
- Cookson & Clegg was founded in Blackburn in 1860. By the mid-20th century, they were a major supplier of military outerwear, legwear and other sewn products to the British Army. Today the firm employs those same skills essential in the production of military-grade clothing and applies them to the manufacturing of jeans, chinos, trousers, and workwear for many of the UK’s finest sustainable clothing brands.
We are looking for an experienced Production Operative to support our teams of experienced garment machinists.
Operations
Operating semi-automated & manual machines
- Button sew machine
- Buttonhole machine
- Bartack machine
- Rivet & jeans buttons
- Garment press
- Training will also be given on automated pocketing machines.
Skills required:
- Ability to work accurately and to highest quality in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet team targets
- Understanding of spoken English

- Monday-Thursday 7.00am to 5.30pm
- Every Friday off
- Option of Friday overtime during busy periods (£12/hour)
- Weekly performance bonus OTE £11.55/hr
