Langdon has an exciting opportunity for Sessional Workers to join their growing team in North London.
Langdon are an ambitious forward thinking Learning Disability charity working with the Jewish Community. Langdon was founded 30 years ago and we now help over 100 young Jewish people with learning disabilities by providing education, supported living and employment services. Whilst we support the Jewish community, we celebrate and benefit from the diversity of the communities in which we are based and welcome applicants from all backgrounds
About the role
Langdon Brady provides Jewish young people aged 9-25 with learning, behavioural and physical difficulties the opportunity to make friends and take part in fun activities. Langdon Brady supports the development of our members confidence and their ability to communicate effectively. People who face barriers to inclusion often find it difficult to make friends, Langdon Brady is a friendly and inviting place for our members to overcome this and develop meaningful relationships with others.
The Sessional Youth Worker will be part of a team that enables our members to participate in a range of recreational activities, ensuring that their needs are met while ensuring a friendly, safe and sociable environment. Sessional youth workers are extremely valuable people in the lives of our members, they are a responsible and trustworthy adult who they feel safe to be themselves around; this relationship is crucial in growing Members self-confidence and helping them to make friends when they’re with us.
The participants of Langdon Brady are provided with a well-resourced environment and caring staff. our service takes place in the form of after school/weekend clubs and holiday schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- To deliver engaging group activities to young people with additional needs.
- To help Members develop their confidence and work towards practicing their own version of independence.
- To work 1:1 with Members who need extra support.
- To execute organisational tasks that helps Langdon Brady to run smoothly
About You
Educated to GCSE level with a grade A-C in Maths & English, you are passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and autism to become independent. Ideally you have some experience working with young people who face barriers to inclusion, but this is not essential. You have an outgoing, positive, empathetic personality and a clear and straightforward communication style.
