The Vale of Glamorgan Community Adult Community Learning Services comprises four main programmes:
Get Back on Track
This Welsh Government Funded programme offers Free courses to eligible learners. Courses are short 10 weeks or One day workshops and are accredited. The programme includes Digital Skills, Employability, Skills for the workplace, Confidence and British Sign Language along with a programme of Health and Wellbeing Courses. The programme is primarily based at Palmerston Community Learning Centre, Barry CF632NT with outreach provision through the Vale.

Essential Skills and E.S.O.L. (English for speakers of other languages)
This Franchised programme offers a range of Essential skills: English and Maths workshops at various levels from Entry 1 to level 2. Learners are supported to achieve a range of accreditation including Agored Cymru and City and Guilds qualifications. The centre also offers E.S.O.L. workshops at various levels where learners can work towards Trinity College Examinations. The programmes are primarily based at the Vale Learning Centre within Barry Library CF63 4RW

Vale Courses
This programme of Leisure Courses comprises a wide range of Adult Learning Courses both online and at range of venues across the Vale of Glamorgan. Subject areas include Arts, Crafts, Cookery, Music, Modern Foreign Languages, Photography, Counselling and Health and Fitness Courses. Courses are daytimes or evenings for ten weeks, and one day workshops.

Learn Welsh-The Vale
Learn Welsh offers a complete range of Welsh courses for adults in the Vale of Glamorgan from Entry level (beginners) to proficiency (Gloywi). Learners choose the pace from our wide offer of once-a-week to Super-fast-track courses. Distance learning is offered, including Blended courses with self-study elements. Courses are held daytime and evenings at venues across the Vale, and also online using Zoom. Learn Welsh the Vale provides informal learning through events and organised social activities to support learners in using their Welsh.

About the Role
Pay Details: JNC Youth and Community Professional Range Point 14
Hours of Work: Various part time sessions as required. Sessions are typically of 2-3 hours duration and take place mornings afternoons, or evenings. Course duration is Adult Term Time only and will vary from 5 to 30 weeks and may include one day workshops and taster courses.
Main Place of Work: Various Adult Education Centres and a range of outreach venues such as Libraries, jobcentres and Community Centres across the Vale of Glamorgan. Some courses may take place online using Zoom or other platforms.
Part time sessional tutors are required for a range of Adult Education programmes across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Currently tutors are required in the following subjects:
- Digital Skills,
- Skills for the Workplace (e.g. First Aid, Health and Safety)
- E.S.O.L.
- Essential Skills:
- English and/or Maths
- Welsh for Adults
We are happy to receive applications in other relevant subject areas for future consideration.
About You
You will need:
- a good level of education and demonstrate good literacy and numeracy.
- a high level of knowledge and experience in your subject area.
- a relevant teaching qualification or to work towards a teaching qualification.
- experience of teaching or training adults (desirable).
- a relevant Practitioners Qualification (desirable for applicants who wish to teach ESOL or Essential Skills).
- understanding of assessment or experience of delivering accredited programmes.
- confidence in delivering learning using digital technology.
- to be able to deliver hybrid learning (face to face and online) where relevant, or be willing to undertake further training.
- excellent communication skills and be able to deliver innovative and creative learning which engages and challenges your learners.
- an understanding of the needs of adult learners and an empathy for vulnerable learners.
- a willingness to undertake further training as required.
