Job Summary
The Service Technician will be required to perform troubleshooting and repair on a range of manufactured and distributed products referring to detailed instructions, drawings, schematics and bills of materials; conduct final quality inspections and test products; field telephone technical support calls; issue return authorization to customers; evaluate returned products for nonconformance’s and report observations; and tag and segregate nonconforming products. The Service/Repair Tech II will use a variety of hand tools, test equipment, computer programs and machinery to complete the required tasks. With comprehensive experience the Service/Repair Tech II can move into jobs that involve more skill and greater responsibility.
Specific Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and evaluate returned manufactured and distributed products and applicable electronic circuitry in the plant and at remote locations
- Identify and summarize failure modes for quality and engineering purposes
- Perform telephone technical support and issue return authorization when necessary
- Properly use equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job defined in work orders
- Documents actions by completing production and service forms
- Meets service repair goals on a daily, weekly, and a monthly basis.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Requirements
- Degree or similar relevant qualification preferred, but not required
- Good understanding of basic electrical and/or electronic equipment
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- Ability to use and understand Fluke meters, Hipot, Keytek, DVM’s, oscilloscopes, ground integrity analyzer and variac testers
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
- Ability to take responsibility for quality of work performed
- Ability to effectively write and read English
- PCB component level soldering skills
- Ability to use pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead hoist/crane
Technical Skills
- Experience with a variety of hand tools and machinery used in mechanical and electrical assembly including air and electric power tools
- Certification to work with high voltage equipment and or Lockout/Tagout and arc flash training
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and schematics, bills of material, and follow test procedures
- Experience with high voltage equipment
- Microsoft software knowledge
