About the Organisation:

Public Health Scotland is a new organisation, set up to improve the lives of people in Scotland, to reduce health inequalities that persist in many of our communities. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus and its implications across society.

The Post:

The role of the Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate is to protect the people of Scotland from infectious and environmental hazards; enable high-quality clinical and public health knowledge, research and innovation; and change clinical and public health practice by using audits at a national and local level.

The Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate are seeking to appoint 0.8 WTE Band 6 Service Delivery Manager to support the work of the Scottish Health Protection Network (SHPN).

The post-holder(s) shall work closely with Clinicians, Data Management and Analytical staff as part of Clinical and Protecting Health team to contribute to PHS intelligence surveillance, research and development opportunities working with a range of policy makers and public health/health protection service providers and stakeholders across all sectors in Scotland and beyond.

The Candidate:

You will have strong communications and presentation skills, with the ability to use these to influence, negotiate and mediate in an often challenging and politicised environment.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant levels of post graduate work experience in a related, and preferable project driven, environment. Service and/or direct project management experience – experience of working within networks would be an advantage.

An ability to take the initiative, deal with conflicting demands and work under pressure are pre requisites for this role. As are an ability to demonstrate PHS values.

Location and Working Pattern:

The post will be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh. PHS operate a hybrid working model with a mixture of working at home and days in the office each week.

There will be an expectation to travel to local areas for some meetings and events.

This is a part-time post at 30 hours per week.

Salary placement will start at the bottom point of the scale unless individuals have previous NHS experience.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
